GCSE study in the sciences provides the foundation for understanding the material world. Scientific understanding is changing our lives and is vital to the world’s future prosperity. Schools typically offer two routes for the study of science at GCSE and it is expected that all students will study one of them.
‘Double’ science covers aspects of Biology, Chemistry and Physics and students work towards a double award GCSE. That is although the student studies all three sciences they receive two GCSEs reflecting their performance in all three subjects in their final exams.
‘Triple’ science also covers aspects of Biology, Chemistry and Physics but students will study all to a greater depth and to reflect this receive three GCSEs with a mark reflecting their performance in each individual discipline. To find out more about any individual science please click below.
